Ruthven Barracks face an exciting history since they were built as the smallest of four barracks in 1719 after the Jacobite rising in 1715. We had a direct view from our cottage, and walking the dog in the evening or night offered the opportunity to find different angles and additionally masked the scaffold set up at some of the barracks' walls. One of those walks with full camera gear and tripod during the twilight showed the illumination, hid the scaffold and condensed the hills of the Cairngorm mountains range in the background.
