Fisherman's Strand

  Fisherman's Strand

Being on vacation with a friend instead of my family was a rather forgotten discipline for some years. Reason was a free three-days stay at a camping site in Søndervig, which had limitations in both the time as well as a ban on dogs. So it was impossible for my family members to join me for this trip. It was possible for a good friend of mine, who anyhow needed some trigger to find his way back to photography again after some years of abstinence. A good deed in fact - in the name of photography, combined with a chance to visit my second home country Denmark another time.

A few days only in the beginning of June, but full of time for hiking and photographing - all day long, and sometimes even all night long. No restrictions, no (fully understood) annoyed family members or friends (with the only failing not to enjoy taking images as much as I do).

One evening we decided to check the coastline just a few kilometers North of our residence, where I remembered natural stones used for a groyne at the North Sea line. Weather was great, slightly cool though. The unique Scandinavian light fades in June after 22:00, so we stayed a long evening taking images from the coastline, fingers getting stiff from the lowering temperatures and the lens hazy every now and then by the sea water spray (luckily the lens, camera and tripod survived)

A loneseome fisherman in the late sunset light of a Danish early summer night was a free bonus - photography is not always predictable and you have to both to get "your" pictures - stay the course and be lucky
