Mooseworld was established in 1999 by a college professor for a course on e-commerce. The goals were to have a professional-looking site that could be used as a teaching device and to see if it could rank first in search results. Our awards page shows that both goals were accomplished.
The subject of moose was chosen since we like them and they offer a metaphor for peace and civility.
For several years Mooseworld had elements of e-commerce, befitting its original purpose. Mooseworld is now a purely nonprofit site.
Our logo comes from an original artwork created for the owners of this site by the noted artist and author Harriet Peck Taylor.
In 2019 the site was planned to be discontinued. The offer to take over parts of it by mooseman.de was the chance to preserve the enormous time and decidation for setting up mooseworld.com. Thanks to Randall and his team for collecting all the valuable information, images and fun parts - and for giving me the chance to keep the gem of mooseworld.com for people interested in one of the most exiting animals on the world.
